Kazire Navigating The Agricultural Landscape

In pursuit of its vision and mission, Kazire Health Products Limited with support from Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) and Uganda Development Bank has established an agro-industrial Hub in Masindi Agricultural Park located in Nyakarongo Village, Kimengo Parish, Kimengo Sub-County, Buruli County, in Masindi District. This a nucleus farm aimed at spearheading agriculture value addition systems in Bunyoro region. The hub majors in fruit, and herbal medicine farming tailored around cattle rearing on semi-zero grazing basis. The aim is to use this hub as a training centre for enrolling at least 2000 outgrowers in the region.

Strategic Partnerships

We collaborate with academic institutions like Mbarara University of Science and Technology, healthcare providers like Ministry of Health, National Drug Authority and Makerere Lung Institute, and government agencies like Science, Technology and Innovations- Office of the President to drive innovation and increase access to safe herbal medicines. Agriculture Value Addition:

Kazire Agriculture Farm

The Masindi project represents a landmark investment in Uganda’s agro-industrialization journey. Situated on land allocated by the Uganda Investment Authority, the 960-acre farm has been strategically designed to serve as a nucleus hub for horticultural and medicinal plant production, integrated with livestock systems to ensure organic nutrient recycling. The project further seeks to engage surrounding communities through structured out-grower schemes, thereby positioning itself as both a production centre and a catalyst for rural transformation. The farm operates on a semi-zero grazing model, integrating cattle production with crop cultivation under irrigation. This integrated system enhances productivity, reduces external input dependency, and ensures sustainable organic farming. Greenhouses have been established for seedling propagation and medicinal plant multiplication, with planting materials sourced from reputable institutions and community-based nurseries. Priority crops include citrus, aloe vera, cactus, and Prunus africana among other medicinal species of high commercial and pharmaceutical value. This model directly aligns with Uganda’s Agro-Industrialization Programme under NDP IV, which emphasizes increased commercialization of agriculture, promotion of agro-processing, and enhancement of exports. Furthermore, the project operationalizes the Parish Development Model’s pillar on production and value addition, demonstrating practical pathways through which smallholder farmers can be integrated into high-value agricultural enterprises

Kazire Health Products Limited's Production Capacity

Community And Innovation In Agriculture

Kazire Health Products Limited is establishing an agro-industrial hub in Masindi on a 960-acre piece of land that was provided by Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) as part of its support rendered to local investors. The company is utilizing the land to boost production capacity and integrate surrounding communities into agricultural value chain development systems. The ongoing project is going to be a one-stop center for horticulture and medicinal plants production tailored around improved indigenous scientific innovations.

Exploring the World of Agriculture

The Kazire Agriculture project involves the integration of animal husbandry (under semi-zero grazing) with crop production under irrigation and intercropping. The Company through the Research and Development Department has identified the source of quality planting materials for citrus, pineapple, aloe vera, cactus and other medicinal plants from different communities and institutions in Uganda. These planting materials are being collected and multiplied through greenhouse system at the farm in Masindi district.

It is from this hub that the affiliated farmers are being enrolled to be trained and given farm inputs to improve their farming practices in collaboration with DAI, a USAID implementing partner involved in agriculture value chain management systems in Uganda. The project is still at the baseline level whereby an Inclusive Business Plan (IBP), which will identify the areas of need and streamline collaborative approaches with the Kazire Agriculture Farm and the neighboring communities. The project is looking at enrolling 2000 farmers who are going to be trained at Kazire Agriculture Farm and they will mainly engage in horticulture and medicinal plants farming. At the Kazire Agriculture Farm, multiplication of planting materials and planting is ongoing. Besides horticulture and medicinal plants, animal husbandry is being established to provide organic manure for supporting crop husbandry.
